“EGoli” – the Place of Gold. EGoli is the name Ndebele, Swati, Xhosa, and Zulu men gave to the new city of Johannesburg, South Africa which was part of the 19th century gold rush that lit the Scramble for Africa in 1886.
On 5 August 2021 and 21 September, 2021, SJ co-convened and hosted the All that Glitters is not Gold on behalf of the Amsterdam Museum, COC Shakespeare Club, COC Amsterdam and the Dutch King’s Golden Coach / De Gouden Koets.
