“THE SUCHNESS OF HUMAN NATURE.” – Robert Dube (1940 – 2017). Robert was our Literature in English teacher at Mpopoma THE High School, the only high school in the world referred to as “THE High School.” A revered semiotician, that was his personal definition of the word literature, one that he prided himself for “not being in any bibliography—not even the Oxford Dcitionary”.

Yep, I am that generation – the Beverly Hills 90210 (1990 – 2000) crew. Aaron Spelling was the god of television! Contrary to what might be prominent, television—and not radio or music—is my first love. I deliberately avoided doing television, saving it for later in life. I declined many Zimbabwe TV appearances.

With The SJ Show, I am naturally inspired by the heavy weights, Oprah and Wendy Williams. I am generally not a fan of fiction and therefore mostly love the daytime format. I loved what Jay Leno did with the late night format. Trevor Noah also did well. I also love the reality format with Jeff Probst at Survivor, and Ryan Seacrest with the Kardashians beng exceptional. Nothing captures the suchness of human nature like reality. You have to understand the format. The folx at Young, Famous and African have latched on it very well and ran off!
